Dear Stefan:
There are two kinds of depression. There is clinical which responds to anti-depressants. Then there is situational depression which is like PTSD. Stuff from the past haunts you.
The only medicine for situational depression is positive thinking. You just pump yourself up with affirmations. Then you act as if. I learned this in AA. You do the next right thing whether you feel like it or not. Another expression is "fake it till you make it."
Low self-esteem and fear are the underlying demons. You much tackle them both. I like the concept [and book] entitled "Feel the fear and do it anyway." You just put yourself on automatic pilot. You take your fatigue and sadness and depression and you go to work. It is like going to work while you have the flu. You get done as much as you can before you collapse and then it passes. The depression and negative emotions just pass. All that stuff has a life span.
How can I help?
