I just saw a documentary how about heroin users started with prescription pain killers. What interested me is now some people like don't get addicted and some do. When the pain of the non-addict they tough it out until it is time to do it again. Some people take more instead. This is called increased tolerance. This group becomes the heroin addict.
So I have a new appreciation for why my son won't use pain killers. Who wants to gamble that they are one of those who would become addicted.
Wow it is scary. Doctors are also enablers. I have so many doctors offer me prescriptions when I don't need it. If you are a non-addict then pain killers can allow you to live again. They are a blessing But how do you know in advance whether you are an addict or not. They need to come up with some kind of test. Even trial and error is a gamble but it is all we have right now. If you work with your doctor and tell him the truth when you are starting to take more, he can help you before it is too late.
